Gift Aid Statement

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities like BIGLITTLE Arts Support Trust (BLAST) to reclaim the basic rate tax you’ve already paid on your donations. That means we can receive an extra 25p for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you.

For example, if you donate £20, we can claim an additional £5 from HMRC, making your total gift worth £25 to us — helping us go even further in our work.

How does it work?

When you make a donation and confirm you’re eligible for Gift Aid, we claim back the tax from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on your behalf.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a UK taxpayer

  • Have paid at least as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year as the amount of Gift Aid being claimed on all your donations

  • Provide your name and home address (required by HMRC for verification)

Why it’s important

Gift Aid is a vital source of income for us. It increases the value of your donation by 25% without costing you anything more. Over the course of a year, this extra support can make a huge difference to our programmes and projects.

What am I agreeing to?

When you tick a Gift Aid option on any of our forms, you’re confirming the following:

“I want BIGLITTLE Arts Support Trust (BLAST) to claim Gift Aid on this donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past 4 years. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year, it is my responsibility to pay any difference.”

You can cancel your Gift Aid declaration at any time by contacting us.

What if I’m not eligible?

That’s completely fine — just select “No” on the Gift Aid section of our form. You can still donate without using Gift Aid.

GIFT AID makes your donations go further, enabling BLAST to support more opportunities in the performing arts.
